Multiuser Detection Summary for 6.975 EECS Graduate Seminar in Communications

چکیده
The multiuser detection problem applies when we are sending data on the uplink channel from a handset to a base station. The base station must demodulate and decode signals from K−1 interfering handsets. A related problem known as interference cancellation arises on the down-link channel from the base station to the handset in which the handset must separate the signal intended for it, from the signals that the base station intends for other handsets in the cell. Methods for directly mitigating interference from neighboring cells have generally not been addressed, probably because of the current practical difficulties of sharing large quantities of time sensitive information between different cells. There is an enormous literature on multiuser detection, but a few resources may be helpful. The main resource is Verdu’s book [Verdu 1998]. The Fall 11/8/2000 presentation by C. Emre Koksal, entitled “Linear Multiuser Receivers” for this seminar is quite helpful.

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...
متن کاملCovariance Analysis of a vector tracking GPS receiver based on MMSE multiuser Detection
In high dynamic conditions, using vector tracking loops instead of scalar tracking loops in GPS receivers is proved as an efficient method to compensate the performance. The Minimum Mean Squared Error detector as a multiuser detector is applied in the vector tracking loop for more reliability and efficiency. The Kalman filter does the two tasks of tracking and extracting the navigation data aft...
متن کاملLocal Maximum Likelihood Multiuser Detection for CDMA Communications
Third-generation mobile radio networks have been under intense research. Code division multiple access (CDMA) has emerged as the mainstream air interface solution for the third-generation networks. As the demand of usable bandwidth is ever increasing, multiuser detection is a necessary means for CDMA systems to reduce effect of multiple access interference and hence increase system capacity. Th...

متن کاملChannel Estimation And Multiuser Detection In Asynchronous Satellite Communications
In this paper, we propose a new method of channel estimation for asynchronous additive white Gaussian noise channels in satellite communications. This method is based on signals correlation and multiuser interference cancellation which adopts a successive structure. Propagation delays and signals amplitudes are jointly estimated in order to be used for data detection at the receiver. As, a mult...
